Increase safety while reducing cost

Both are paramount concerns for your utility.

Only Inner-Pole Testing can help reduce your costs in both the short-and-long term while
increasing the security and confidence your lineman will have in the results.

How Does it Work?Advantages

Non-destructive Testing

The POLUX 5 scientifically deduces remaining fiber strength of a wood utility pole based on calculations which combine:

  • the recorded resistance of the probes
  • the internal moisture measured by the probes
  • the wood species, pole, age, pole class, and the presence of preservative (e.g., Penta)

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Our technology utilizes two thin probes which, when inserted into the pole measure both the moisture content and the resistance (recorded as the PSI of force) of the probes. These measurements help to discern the remaining fiber strength of the wood itself, which specifically speaks to the fiber strength recommendations set for in ANSI guidelines (see ANSI publication 05.1). The probe measurements are combined using PICUS software (field data collection software) with information about the pole’s wood species, age/class, along with any preservative (e.g. Penta) present to scientifically deduce…

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF USING A POLUX 5?

As the fifth generation of this ground-breaking technology, the POLUX 5 far exceeds both previous generations and all other testing methods currently available. The innovative screw-mounted design allows for testing at any angle, in any location, regardless of attachments…

WHAT DATA DOES THE POLUX 5 and the PICUS COLLECT?

While the POLUX 5 collects the data regarding internal moisture and force resistance, the handheld-installed PICUS software allows for the ready input of any additional information through the use of pre-installed dropdown menus. Information regarding the wood species, age and class of the pole, and any preservatives present are required inputs. However, because it makes the most sense for your data analysis to gather as much information…

WHO IS INNER-POLE?

Inner-Pole Testing has been inspecting and evaluating wood utility poles in the USA using the POLUX technology since 2010.

As the exclusive operator + distributor of POLUX, our teams have tested hundreds of thousands of poles across the country.
We have seen first-hand the benefit provided to utility companies from the East coast to the West coast and all points in between.

We have personally seen the damage and expense associated with destructive “testing”. Our team is committed to providing the safest, most efficient and reliable testing services available.

Traditional methods had their place and time, but continuing to use them would be the same as if your fleet was still all Model T’s.
